 ADHD teacher tips part two.

Plan your outfits and lunches for the week. This reduces the number of decisions you have to make throughout the workweek. And also, if you have kids, this is really helpful for them. Like, my son just started kindergarten. I ironed all of his clothes for the week, and it saved so much time in the morning and just got everything started more smoothly.

Um, create a morning and afternoon checklist and tape them to your desk. So the morning one might include things like taking attendance and checking your email. The afternoon one might include things like plugging up the laptop cart or cleaning your desk or resetting the room, whatever you need to do in the afternoon.

Record voice memos. I feel like a lot of people don't do this one. When you have a thought or idea, instead of trying to find something to write it down, just quickly record it in your phone and add "listen to voice memos" to your afternoon checklist. Talk instead of type. Kinda close to the last one, but this is using speech-to-text, like on your phone or in Google Docs, to draft parent communication and emails. Sometimes it's easier to just talk and then go back and edit the words, and this can help with people who have trouble getting started on what to say. Sometimes it's easier to just talk.

And then the last one, which is one of my favorites, keep your ID and keys in the same place every day. So that can be by the door, in your work bag, or even in your shoes. If I know there's something I don't want to forget for the next day, I have to put it in my shoes because even if I tape it to the front door, I'm going to forget it.

So try these out. What do you do to help you have a smoother year, smoother mornings? Share those with everyone.
