Making Authentic Choices: Social Cipher's Newest Module

Updates

Our newest game module and curriculum, Making Authentic Choices, is now live!

In this module, students explore the world of Starlantis through the story of Tre, a 16-year-old with ADHD who's learning how to make independent decisions while navigating friendships, personal expectations, and the pressure to fit in.

What is Making Authentic Choices about?

Tre and his friends are preparing for summer internships that will help shape their futures. While his friends already know which path they want to take, Tre isn't so sure. As he explores his options, he learns how to make choices that reflect his own needs and interests while maintaining important relationships.

Throughout the game, students make decisions that influence Tre's experiences and explore how different choices can affect themselves and others. Students can replay the game to explore different story paths and decisions.

The module helps students practice SEL skills such as:

  • Self-awareness: Recognizing personal needs, values, and interests
  • Self-advocacy: Communicating needs and making independent choices
  • Relationship skills: Navigating friendships and respecting differences
  • Responsible decision-making: Considering different options and their potential outcomes

The curriculum for Making Authentic Choices includes 20-minute lessons that combine gameplay with guided discussions, activities, and reflections.

Educators with at least 10 students can explore Making Authentic Choices and the rest of our games and curriculum for free through our Pilot Program.
