How Does Social Cipher Work? From Gameplay to Real-World Skills

Social Cipher combines interactive gameplay, real-world curriculum, and progress monitoring to help students develop skills like self-regulation, self-awareness, and relationship-building. Together, these components help students apply what they’ve learned while giving educators insight into their progress.

How the Three Components Work Together

1) Practice through gameplay

Students navigate realistic social situations alongside a neurodiverse cast of characters. Through interactive stories, challenges, and decision-making, they explore emotions, recognize different needs, and practice responding to challenging situations in a low-pressure environment.

2) Apply through curriculum

Lesson plans include both gameplay-based and unplugged activities that help educators connect SEL concepts to students’ everyday experiences. Through guided discussions, activities, and reflections, students build on what they’ve learned and explore how to apply these skills in the classroom, at home, and with peers.

3) Inform through progress monitoring

In-game assessments and a progress monitoring dashboard give educators insight into students’ developing skills. Educators can review student choices, track growth over time, and identify areas where additional instruction or support may be helpful.
